You can put the CD in your local CDROM, then when you're in BIOS making your boot option changes you can click on the "Connect CD/DVD 1" button to hook up your CDROM to the VM and it should work that way too. If you're on ESXi you'll need to copy it up to the SAN/NFS server. I use WinSCP and that's pretty effective for copying files to the ESX server. Are you running your ISO off of a SAN/NFS share or did you just copy it to the VMimages folder on the local storage? Maybe something got borked during the copy. I've never had an issue with the ISO other then making sure it was the right one. Or, you can edit the settings, click on the "Options" tab, then click on "Boot Options" then check "Force BIOS Setup".Īs for the CDROM, that's a tough one. I usually have to hire a 6 year old with lightning reflexes to hit the button in time.
